83 Kwara South Wards to Converge on Omuaran as GEM Grassroots Drive Reaches Climax

Press Release
1st October, 2026

The Golden Era Movement (GEM), Kwara State Chapter, will on Saturday, October 3, 2026, bring together coordinators from all 83 wards in Kwara South in Omuaran, Irepodun Local Government Area, for the grand finale of its statewide Ward Coordinators’ Induction exercise.

The gathering represents the culmination of a series of induction programmes held across Kwara State and comes as the movement intensifies its grassroots mobilisation drive towards its target of reaching 100,000 citizens across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

With 83 wards represented, the Omuaran event is set to be the largest convergence of GEM Ward Coordinators in Kwara South and a significant milestone in the movement’s effort to establish a coordinated grassroots presence across the state.

The event will also bring together prominent personalities from the region, including Chief (Barr.) Olusegun Olawoyin, Major General Abidoye (rtd.), Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, Dr. Joseph Adekunle Bamidele, Chief Kayode Olaoye, Engr. Muhideen Shittu among others.

Their participation is expected to add prominence to an event focused not only on the formal induction of coordinators, but also on citizen participation, community engagement and responsible citizenship.

GEM says the completion of the induction exercise marks the beginning of a new phase of grassroots engagement, with its network of Ward Coordinators expected to strengthen communication, coordination and citizen mobilisation at the community level.

The movement remains committed to promoting responsible citizenship, democratic values, unity, social justice and sustainable development, while building a structured network capable of engaging citizens across Kwara State.

With 83 wards converging in Omuaran, the grand finale signals a major new chapter in GEM’s expanding grassroots operation across Kwara.
