GEM Kwara South Induction: Chief Kayode Olaoye - From Mathematics to Culture and Enterprise
Chief Kayode Olaoye, the Agbaakin of Isanlu-Isin, is a respected community development advocate whose contributions to culture, tourism and grassroots development have earned him recognition within and beyond his hometown.
A graduate of Education/Mathematics, Chief Olaoye has a strong background in teaching, having taught Mathematics and Further Mathematics for about two decades before venturing fully into the event services industry.
For over two and a half decades, he has built extensive experience in event management, decoration and rental services. His involvement in the creative industry has taken him across different parts of Nigeria, providing him with broad exposure and valuable experience in event planning and cultural promotion.
Beyond his professional career, Chief Olaoye has remained deeply committed to the promotion of the cultural heritage and tourism potential of Isanlu-Isin. He is one of the major handlers of the annual Ajokogun Fiesta, a cultural celebration that brings together people and promotes the rich traditions and heritage of the community.
His passion for culture and tourism has also seen him work with HIYA, an NGO focused on Culture and Tourism Promotion, where he has been engaged in organising festivals, developing side attractions and creating programmes designed to draw greater attention to tourism sites and cultural destinations.
As part of his contribution to the growth and professionalisation of the event industry in Kwara State, Chief Olaoye played a key role in bringing event decorators together to establish the Association of Professional Event Decorators. He also collaborated with other professional and artisan bodies in the state in the formation of the Kwara Artisans Congress, where he previously served as State Assistant Secretary and currently serves as the State Legal Officer.
Further strengthening his expertise in the tourism and hospitality sector, Chief Olaoye holds a Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality from the International Vocational, Technical and Entrepreneur College (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo.
With a unique blend of education, entrepreneurship, community service, cultural preservation and tourism advocacy, Chief Kayode Olaoye represents the kind of grassroots leadership and community engagement that continues to shape the development of Kwara South.
